Speaking with The Observer yesterday [19 Oct 2010], a local medical practitioner said his practice alone had recorded 14 cases in the past 4 months and a total of 18 for 2010.

ニュージーランド南島 Canterbury カンタベリー地方 Kaikoura カイコウラ[港町]では、百日咳が流行し、2010年4月始めから医療センター Kaikoura Medical Centre で確認された百日咳患者は 15人。
「(同センター診療管理者発言) 発生はコントロールされ、2週間、新規患者の報告はない。1人は 0歳児。コミュニティ内にもっと多くの未診断症例がきっといる。」
ネルソン地方・マールボロ地方衛生局 Nelson Marlborough District Health Board の医務官によると、マールボロ地方で百日咳の疑い患者 1人のみ本年報告されている。

Children should get 5 doses of DTaP vaccine [,a safer version in which the pertussis component is acellular], one dose at each of the following ages: 2, 4, 6, and 15-18 months, and 4-6 years of age. DTaP is not licensed for adolescents, adults, or children 7 years of age and older. A single dose of another vaccine called Tdap, which is similar to DTaP, is recommended for people 11 through 64 years of age in place of their next Td booster (recommended to be given every 10 years). Td, protects against tetanus and diphtheria, but not pertussis.

米国ミネソタ州 Wright 郡で百日咳が発生し、学校と保健局の当局者は病気の防止対策を行っている。確定患者は Maple Lake地域の 46人で、多くは Maple Lake 小学校と St Timothy カトリック校の生徒である。
百日咳は断続的に発生する傾向がある。同州の最後の波は 2005年にピークがあった (確定患者 1500人超)。2009年には、患者数は 1000人を超えている。
予防ワクチンはあるが、時間とともにその効果を失う。幼稚園に入る前にワクチン接種を受けた 5-6年生に患者が多くみられる理由と保健当局者は考えている。
百日咳の患者は 5日間の抗菌薬治療が終わるまで、自宅待機すべきである (保健当局者)。
